Officials say it will take up to six days to restore service.

As of Sunday morning, Allegheny Power listed more than 35,000 customers still without electricity in North Central West Virginia and the state's northern and eastern panhandles.

Brooke, Hancock, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia and Wetzel counties reported the highest numbers of outages.

In Wetzel County, more than 50 percent of the customers in the county were without power, while the same was true for 44 percent of Doddridge County customers.

The following cities and towns had more than 1,000 customers without service: Fairmont, Hundred, Jacksonburg, Morgantown, New Cumberland, Salem, Shinnston, Wellsburg and Weirton.

Allegheny currently estimates that it will be Friday, Feb. 12 before all power is restored.

Hundreds of additional workers have been moved into affected areas, according to Allegheny.

@Ward Witnessing 15 minutes of repairs does not make you an expert on anything. What do you do for a living???? Anything? Unbelievable! You sound like a snippy little old lady.

Thanks to everyone who is working hard to restore power to so many under impossible working conditions.

Took a ride out in the Cameron area yesterday. Saw 2 crews with Allegheny Power working on fallen lines. 3 men on both crews. 1 working while 2 watch on each crew. They may be working long hours, but they aren't working hard. Had to sit and wait to get through for 15 mins. no problem. For the family members that think their loved ones are hard workers, go out and watch a crew work. Long hours don't equal hard work.

I now have power back, however it was very hard to not get angry when you call to report and find out when it will be back on and are told you don't matter there are not enough people on that line to worry about it, then you ask for a supervisor to call you (still no call) so you can tell them where the problem is and they just ignore you. Then when they do come out and you catch them on the way out the road and they go to where you know the problem is and it is as simple as putting in a new fuse (not sure if term is right) it is very frustrating. But thanks anyway for the effort that is being put in to the recovery. Also this was not allegheny power.

You can buy an 800 watt gasoline generator from harborfreightusa for 99 bucks with a coupon. That is enough power to run the a couple appliances, if you are careful about how many watts you are using at anyone time.

My husband and I stopped and thanked the Allegheny Power workers in Hundred. We truly appreciate their hardwork and long hours. The out lying areas are still without power and it does get frustrating, but I know they are working hard. Thanks again to all the workers.

To Need Help- Obviously you have no idea what kind of work a lineman actually does or else you wouldn't be complaining. They work long hours usually without any breaks and risk their lives to get the power back on for ungrateful people like you! Allegheny Power is by far a greedy company. My Husband works for a different utilities company that does contract work for Allegheny and Allegheny pays their wages which is 16 hour days, they pay for their hotel and for their meals! The least someone could do is stop and thank these men for risking their lives to get their power back on! Is that too much to ask for?

Hey Need Help - do you realize that other utility companies from outside the state will come in to help Allegheny? My brothers-in-law both with fro Duquesne Light in Pittsburgh and have come to WV to help our local power company restore power.

The last big storm, they were working 32 hour shifts, with 8 hour rests, then back to work. How much time did you spend OFF the couch?

My son-in-law that works for Allegheny Power that is working 16 hour day since the storm has had to put up with people cussing him, giving him the finger, also Bob Evans employees were rude to the workers when they were trying to get something to eat. Also my husband that has been working for WVU from daylight to dark removing snow has had to put up with students throwing snow balls at him.. Come on people give them all a break

To NEED HELP. For your information the lineman with Allegheny Power have been working 24 hours a day since Friday. My husband got 4 hours of sleep last night because he is working 16 hour days and is very ill but still going to work to help those without power. There are so many trees down and the roads suck in this area that they cannot get to all the places they need to. So maybe you need to get a real job and labor like these men do then you would think before you comment.

To Need Help. The utilities companies are doing what they can do the best and safest they can. I hate to break the news to you but it is not worth the life of an utility worker to rush into an unsafe environment just because you think they should already have your power back on. Trees are still falling and there are miles of lines down with some under the snow. It is a bad situation and as you say the power company might be under staffed to handle the situation at hand but what do you expect them to really do? For the rest of the year staff the line crews to over a several hundred associates just so if a freak storm which happens only once every 20 – 30 years falls upon us they will be ready. Yea that make since! Why don’t you go out and buy several thousand gallons of gas so you are ready when fuel supplies run out the in year 2050. So after all you’re complaining what have you done? Did you go to an elderly neighbor house to see if they needed anything? Did you stop and help someone else move the dozen of branches out of the road? Are you going to get off your couch and make a difference or just complain? We are West Virginians’ we stand up for ourselves went time are tough. If you can’t deal with it or like it move to Hollywood were everyone thinks they are entitled.

Allegheny Power is nothing but a greedy company. The public does not know there real truth about the company. There is just not enough employees and they are not hiring anyone. They say they dont have the money and there is not enough work to call for hiring employees. take a look around there are several thousand people without power and i was told on sunday we only have 9 lineman I mean come one. Then I read the Ceo of Allegheny now owns a part of the Steelers man we cant get power but Im sure he was living it up in Maimi with all the other owners at the Super Bowel last night...
