MORGANTOWN -- A Jeep Wrangler ran into the back corner of a Monongalia County school bus Wednesday afternoon on Canyon Rd.

Bus 203 was stopped to let Cody Jeffrey off at his house.

"I was just getting home," he said. "And I jumped off the bus."

His mother was walking down their driveway to meet him, when she saw the collision.

"Everything just went out of me," she said.

The Jeep ran into a ditch at the end of the Jeffrey driveway, stopping it only a few feet from Cody.

There was another student on the bus at the time. No one was injured.

Police say the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle, which left skid marks several yards before the crash.

The driver was arrested at the scene. His license was suspended due to a DUI.

just because his licence were suspended doesnt mean he is a criminal. some people make bad choices and cant aford to pay fines. but they still have to get places like work and grocery stores to provide and feed their family. it was an accident ease up on him

This is a shame!! I feel terrible for everyone involved, and terrible that the person who was driving that jeep prob wont face enough consequences! Laws need to be more strict when it comes to DUIs and suspension of licenses. How many people need to be hurt/killed before it changes? I know of someone here in Morgantown who got a dui, then continued to drive on their suspended license, with no insurance and then rearended someone in front of them hard enough to damage their own car and two cars ahead.....and this person lost their license again, this time for a year and they have to take classes for the dui,pay some fines, but they get it back with no jail time!I think some jail time would help, and they should go longer without a license in a situation like that. Hopefully in time this will change for everyones sake.

when a person is charged with dui why dosent the state inact a forfathure law that once convicted they keep the car and if cought driving in a suspended license take that car also would stop a lot of this i think

That child's guardian angel was watching out for him that's for sure! Yes he should see jail time, not only driving on a suspended license but also coming SO CLOSE to killing an innocent child getting off of the school bus. Thank God the child is ok! Poor parent that had to witness that!

Seriously! Look at those skid marks! He was obvioulsy going way too fast WHILE driving on a suspended license due to DUI AND almost killed a kid in the process. Jail time and serious fines are the only way he MIGHT learn a lesson.
